1.4 Sterling is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission as an External Lottery Manager under account number 3137.
1.5 The Society reserves the right to suspend, cancel or amend the Lottery or these Rules at any time with prior notice. Any such changes will be posted on the Website before they take effect.
1.6 The Lottery is a monthly society lottery in which prizes can be won by Entrants who have purchased Tickets.
1.7 50% of the proceeds generated from Ticket Sales will be returned on a monthly basis to the relevant recreational sports club or sports-related charity as good cause funding for the purposes of advancing amateur sport and/or for other exclusively charitable purposes. Each club or charity will receive 50% of the proceeds raised by that club’s or charity’s supporters.
2. Eligibility
2.1 All Entrants must register their details on their nominated recreational sports club’s web-page in order to purchase Tickets in the Lottery. Entrants must be resident in Great Britain. (For the avoidance of doubt, this excludes Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and BFPO addresses). Entrants are required to provide the Society with their name, their email address and to confirm they are over 16 during the registration process.
2.2 To participate in the Lottery, Entrants must be aged 16 (sixteen) or over. Any Entrant under 16 years of age automatically forfeits the right to any Prize and will have the associated Ticket price refunded.
2.3 By signing up to the Lottery entrants agree that their personal data may be processed for the purposes of age verification.
2.4 Directors and employees of Sterling, and any members of the Society who are directly responsible for managing the Lottery, are ineligible to participate in the Lottery.
2.5 The eligibility of any Entrant is at the sole discretion of the Society, which reserves the right to disqualify or decline to accept participation by any Entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the Entrant has breached any of these Rules or otherwise acted fraudulently. Ineligible Entrants will not be entitled to receive a Prize, and any Prize awarded to an ineligible Entrant may be revoked (if not previously paid) or reclaimed from the Entrant (if already received).
3. The Lottery Draw
3.1 The winners of all prizes shall be selected by Sterling using a Gambling Commission approved test house certified random number generator which will ensure that the Lottery is operated in a fair and open manner in accordance with the requirements of the 2005 Gambling Act.
3.2 In order to comply with the 2005 Gambling Act, and subject to Rule 4.9, only those Tickets for which payment has been received in advance of the Draw are eligible to participate in the Draw.
3.3 The Lottery is a subscription lottery, meaning that probabilities of winning a prize are variable and depend on the total number of Tickets purchased for the Lottery. The chances of winning the top prize are one divided by the overall number of Tickets purchased for each monthly Draw. For instance, if 2,000 Tickets are purchased the odds of winning the top prize will be one in 2,000 and the odds of winning any prize will be one in 667; if 30,000 Tickets are purchased the odds of winning the top prize are one in 30,000 and the odds of winning any prize will be one in 10,000.
3.4 Once a winning Ticket is drawn for a prize, the winner of that prize will be ineligible to win further prizes in the same monthly Draw.
4. Tickets
4.1 The Lottery Draw is run at Sterling’s offices on the final Friday of each month. If the Friday falls on a bank holiday, the draw will take place on the Thursday before or the next most convenient working day.
4.2 The price of a Ticket is £5 and purchases are only possible through a recreational sports club’s or a sports-related charity’s Web-page. Each completed Ticket purchase will be recorded electronically by Sterling. A unique six-digit number will be allocated for each Ticket purchased and this number will be sent electronically to the Entrant prior to the Draw in accordance with Rule 4.9.
4.3 Tickets can be purchased by direct debit or other payment methods offered by Sterling through the recreational sports club’s or sports-related charity’s web-page.
4.4 All monies received from Ticket Sales are held in trust by Sterling to ensure separation from Sterling’s own trading income. This protects customer funds in the event of insolvency. This meets the Gambling Commission’s requirement for the segregation of customer funds at the level: medium protection. Please see: Gambling Commission - Medium Protection.
4.5 No Entrant may purchase more than 20 Tickets for a single monthly Draw.
4.6 All Ticket sales are final and subject to Clause 3.2. Sterling will only facilitate refunds at the request of the Society. No refunds will be made in respect of Draws that have been completed.
4.7 Only Tickets for which payment has been received in full in advance are eligible for entry into monthly Draws.
4.8 Direct Debit payments will be entered into the first available draw 3 working days after the collection has been made from your bank account.
4.9 The Society and Sterling cannot be held responsible, and will not accept liability, for incomplete purchases (caused by corruption of data transmission or otherwise) and these shall not be eligible for participation in the Draw.
4.10 Entrants acknowledge that a purchase of a ticket to participate in the Lottery does not guarantee that they will win any Prize.
4.11 Information (including personal information) recorded for the purposes of operating the Lottery will, unless specifically stated otherwise, be used by the Society in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
5. Prizes
5.1. Prize winners will be determined as described in Rule 3.1.

5.4 The Society reserves the right to amend the value of the Prize Fund at any time. Any such changes will be published on the Website, at least one month prior to the change being made.
5.5. The results (winning numbers) of the Draw will be published on the Website within one week of the Draw and may also be published in any other manner determined by the Society.
